There is a long distance between the sinful flesh and the holy, righteous God of the universe. It’s not just long, it’s an impossible distance. No one can cover it. We can only trust in the saving grace of Jesus Christ, the only Man, God the Son, who has come from the Father to lead us back to him.
Our long journey is simply being made more like Christ.
I hope to write a few entries on here that talk about my pursuit of Christ in this age of the world. It is a dark, broken world and the truth and light of Christ is more needed now than ever.
Christians should be quick to welcome in “sinners” and pray for them, lead them to Christ, to follow God’s will. To simply remove ourselves from the world or refuse to be amongst “sinners” is not at all what Christ has called us to.
We’ve spent the past 2 1/2 weeks working to patch up our walls, ceilings, and refinish the floors in our living and dining rooms. There have been many hours of work prepping, sanding, painting, and finishing. However, now that it is done, the end product is almost breathtaking.
All of the hard work has paid off in a gorgeous end result. The floors looked terrible, the walls had cracks and chips and the ceilings were uneven and had large cracks. To look at it all now is just marvelous.
Above all, the floors are amazing. Many hours of sanding, 4 coats of finish and they are not the same floors!
All of this work has made me think of the beauty of Christ’s redemptive work in our lives. How much toil and energy he spend on earth. How much he had to give up his life with the Father in heaven (more than just 3 weeks of having a house in shambles). He worked so hard that it killed him, all to make us beautiful.
We were most vile and disgusting but through his work, he has redeemed us. He has restored us. Christ is the reason that we shine. He is the light of life and in him all men see.
